Each of the individual necklaces shown here is an original design which takes advantage of the beads themselves.  I like to choose the beads I use for their color and/or the shape or distinction.

New Etsy Items For Your Pleasure

I just added four new items to my Etsy Shop that can go from the office to after-hours with ease and style. They are all different, featuring my original designs in various colors.  The red one in particular has five different beads in the front of the necklace that I found interesting.  This unusual necklace features a variety of beads from my large collection.

The others are fashionable as well.  The dark blue, smooth, beaded necklace is a classic piece for your day or evening wear,  The two   pastel blue necklaces feature the beads themselves to make them distinct and special.  One is made of sculptured beads and the other is paired with small oval beads and octagonal shiny crystal beads.

I think you will find them interesting and I hope you like them. I enjoy the process of creating new, different and original  items and hope you will share the pleasure of wearing something that no other woman can wear.

New Jewelry

I just finished listing ten new necklaces on my Google site for your consideration.  They range in price from $13.97-$19.97 and consist of red, blue, white, black and gold and silver tones.  My jewelry is designed mostly for the lady who goes to work every day and wants to be a little different in her choice of accessories. I don’t neglect the lady who spends her time at home, though.  I stay at home, but want to look pretty just for myself.  I, too, want to be different in my wardrobe.  No pajamas in the daytime.

The necklaces I listed are different.  You won’t find them anywhere else.  I like to work with colors that are bright and unusual as well as bead forms that are not just round.  All my jewelry, both new and vintage, follows that pattern.

So, whether you stay at home, or go to work, you will need an accessory that stands out from the usual. Mine are that.

You’ll find the ones I just listed at www:amazon.com/handmade/mizmlu

A NEW HOME FOR SOME OLD JEWELRY PIECES

Every so often someone who knows about my jewelry making will give me a batch of old jewelry which they no longer want to keep.  Sometimes a piece will just need re-stringing, or cleaning, but other times I get loose beads.  My friend, Betty, surprised me the other day with a shoe box full of beads and broken necklaces, all in little jars.  I was thrilled!  I love the old pieces.  They have a history and only need to be put back together for a new someone to enjoy.

Betty had taken the old pieces apart and put the beads into little jars and empty prescription bottles.  Most of them didn’t have a clasp, just the beads, but I was delighted to get them.  She had several jars of pearls in all different sizes and colors, and a few of colored beads I had never seen before.  I couldn’t wait to get them home and see what could be done with them.

Some of the beads were large enough to restring and make into necklaces, but others were so tiny they could only be used as spacers.

I spent last evening sorting through what I had received and planning the projects. I have a large stock of beads on hand and can usually find something that matches or contrasts the major color.  If not, the bead shop is not far away and I can always find what I need there.  In order to match the beads I have, I put a sample bead, or beads, on a safety pin.  That keeps them from being lost and I can usually find just the right beads to complete the necklace.

There was one set of pearls in a necklace that stumped me.  There were two strands of graduated pearls with a gold motif at either end.  There were no clasps.  On further inspection, I found no holes at the end of these motifs.  But there seemed to be glue on the backs.  While trying to go to sleep last night I came up with a possible answer.  These pieces might have been glued onto the front of a garment.  This made sense to me, also because both pieces are too short to be a full necklace.  What fun!  I will be able to make one necklace out of the two shorter pieces, but cannot use the motifs.  Maybe I will clean all the glue off of them and give them away.

When I am finished with the projects I will ask Betty to choose one, or more, of the finished pieces to thank her for the donation.

I love what I can do with the old, discarded jewelry and hope that more people will discover that I would be happy to take their unwearable jewelry.  I just had a thought…  If there is anyone out there who would like to send their old jewelry to a new home, I would be happy to take it.  Just contact me at mizmlu@gmail.com and maybe we can arrange a delivery.  I live in California, but the pieces could be mailed to me.  Clear out your jewelry box!  I’ll pay the postage.

New Etsy listings

If you are a jewelry maker as I am you should take a look at my recent listings on Etsy, at http://mizmlu.etsy com.  I have been listing various beads that I used once and will not use again.  (all my creations are one-of-a-kind and not repeated.)  These are mostly leftovers from my supplies.  Some are very unusual and with a little imagination will make an original jewelry piece for your collection.  They are priced from $1-$3 plus shipping.  I have much more and will be listing them soon.  Hope you find something to your liking.  Mizmlu
