A Senior Activity Coming Up

The Mobile Home for Seniors where I live has a large variety of activities for the residents to participate in if we wish.  This coming Sunday, June 24th, they are holding a garage sale and I am going to participate in it.  Usually, I don’t.  I manage to keep busy and it’s a lot of work.  But I have a large inventory of my handmade jewelry which I would like to get rid of.  So, I am going to have a table this time.

I have to be down at the Rec Center by 6 AM!! to set up my items.  I’ll be taking about 40 necklaces and several pairs of baby booties that I crocheted a few months ago.

There are  over 200 mobile homes in my park, so there is a good number of possible buyers who might find my items worthy.  Wish me luck!

DON”T READ THIS, if you are a woman under 30 | woman under 30

This message is about those of you who have reached the age of 30, or older. I picture you as probably possibly married, having one or more children and working. You could have completed your education, have a job, and a husband, (maybe not that last item). I think of you as you get up each morning, take care of your family’s needs before your own. Then get ready for your daily routine and leave for work.
One of those chores is choosing an outfit to wear that day. Maybe you are tired of your clothes and accessories and need something new. I can help with that. There is nothing like a bright new necklace to make an old dress or pant suit show off your style. I make jewelry for you.
I make necklaces, bracelets and earrings that are suitable for the workplace. The colors of my creations are bright and the styles are very different. Every item is unusual and one-of-a-kind, not to be seen as ordinary. They can make an old outfit sparkle like new.
Just to let you know, some of my creations would be perfect for a night out with your favorite person.
So, I invite you to take a few minutes and browse through my multiple varieties of colorful selections in the three sites listed below. I think you might find the selection and prices worth your time. There is something about wearing a new accessory that will perk up your day. I hope you find it in my creations.

2015 Bead & Button Show!

JEWELRY CREATORS – pack your bags and check your bank account, the 2015 Bead & Button show is coming to town!
You mustn’t miss this! The Bead & Button shows are the best of all shows for jewelry makers. They attract hundreds of bead vendors and over 800 jewelry making class sections and workshops for your interest. It will be held at the Wisconsin Center in downtown Milwaukee, Wisconsin, May 27th –June 8th.
The last time I attended a bead show was over 25 years ago when it was held in Los Angeles. I was only making jewelry for my own use at the time, but my two friends who did beaded Christmas ornaments and household décor thought I would enjoy it. That I enjoyed it is putting it mildly. It was candy for my eyes.
Everywhere I looked was something beautiful I had never seen before. Each booth had literally 1000s of beads to choose from. There were classes, and demonstrations as well. I still have several earrings I made from my purchases that day long ago.
Fire Mountain Gems & Beads Supply Company has published a 3 page description of what they are doing to prepare for the show as well as tips and suggestions for attending, such as making early airline and hotel reservations. They will fill up fast. So will the classes and demonstrations. You’ll want to take a tote bag for your purchases and lots of business cards to distribute when you make new friends. And don’t forget your camera so that you can share your experience with the rest of us when you return.
For official schedule, registration and class information, check out www.beadandbuttonshow.com.
Just reading the tips and hints from the Fire Mountain crew made me wish I could make it. But not this year, unfortunately.

You’re invited to join in my latest activity

My latest endeavor is participating in a craft fair organized by some of the residents of the Mobile Home Park where I have lived for 12 years, in Canoga Park, CA.  Some of the ladies in the park spend their free time creating beautiful things such as jewelry, clothing, home decor and Christmas items.  Our show is coming up next weekend on Nov. 8.

I am in the process of gathering together all the goodies I want to display at my table.  I will have many Christmas items such as a handmade ladies vest, several earrings I made, some I bought years P1560135ago, and a gorgeous necklace in red, green, & other beads on a silver chain.  Picture doesn’t do it justice. It glows with Christmas spirit.

I have been working to identify and price each item and in the process I thought it would be a good idea to inventory what I had and where I  kept it.  I found 146 necklaces that I had created but hadn’t sold.  I have at least 10 more up for sale this month on my Etsy shop.  That’s just a portion of what I have made, sold, or given away over the years.

And the earrings, OMG, the earrings!  When I have a few pieces that just don’t fit into a necklace or bracelet they become earrings.  I have some old beaded Christmas earrings up for sale that I made a long time ago.  It may sound strange, but I get pleasure from creating something that someone might enjoy wearing.

If you happen to live in my home town, Canoga Park, or the vicinity of the San Fernando Valley, CA., the show will be at 8811 Canoga Ave., Canoga Park on Nov. 8 from 9-3.  You won’t be disappointed at the variety of beautiful creations made by my talented neighbors.

Just in case you can’t make it to the show, you can view my creations at http://mizmlu.etsy.com.  Expired items can be renewed if you are interested.
