Endeavor snubbed the San Fernando Valley

If you live in the San Fernando Valley in California as I do and wanted to see the last flight of the Endeavor you would have had to leave the Valley and go to the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, probably the closest place to get a glimpse of it.  It did not fly over even the smallest portion of the San Fernando Valley which, by the way, is quite large.  All those who live here and hoped to see the Endeavor drove up to the top of Topanga, which offered a wide view of the Valley, waited in vain for a sight, and were disappointed.  We weren’t even on the list.  According to Doug McIntire of the Daily News we are the Prince Harry of Los Angeles.

The Valleyites deserved a fly over – the main engines which propelled Endeavor into space were built in Canoga Park.  Several other companies and individuals in the Valley contributed to the invention and progress of human flight, but we got no flyby.  This hurts.  1.76 million Valley residents got the ultimate snub.

Secession was up for discussion several years ago, but failed to be adopted.  Maybe we should reconsider.
